PAU IMPACT Magazine

Creating a home for the stories that demonstrate impact.

PAU IMPACT Magazine Winter 2026 and Summer 2026 50th Anniversary Special Edition covers

Overview

PAU IMPACT Magazine was created to give Palo Alto University a dedicated editorial platform for telling deeper stories about its people, ideas, research and institutional impact.

Designed for audiences including alumni, donors and the broader PAU community, the publication brought institutional storytelling and advancement communications together in a more intentional long-form editorial experience.

My Role

Co-Conceiver & Managing Editor

As Managing Editor, I helped shape the publication's editorial direction and managed the development of each issue from story planning through publication.

My responsibilities included developing the editorial calendar and story mix, identifying and developing stories, interviewing sources, writing and editing content, coordinating contributors and production, and maintaining editorial consistency across the publication.

Approach

  • 01

    Find the stories

Identify the people, ideas and institutional work that best demonstrate PAU's impact and give audiences a reason to care.

  • 02

    Build the editorial experience

Develop a thoughtful mix of profiles, institutional stories, research, community impact and advancement-focused storytelling rather than treating the publication as a collection of announcements.

  • 03

    Connect storytelling to relationships

Create content that strengthens connection with alumni, donors and the broader university community while supporting PAU's institutional and advancement priorities.

Why It Mattered

IMPACT gave PAU a dedicated platform for telling deeper, more substantive stories about its people, ideas and institutional impact. It created space to elevate newsworthy stories and perspectives beyond day-to-day institutional updates and explore them with greater depth, context and human perspective.

For alumni, donors and the broader PAU community, the magazine offered a more meaningful view into the people and work shaping the institution while building an enduring body of editorial content that could support connection, visibility and advancement communications over time.
